All Gibson Bagpipes are handcrafted by Jerry Gibson in Willoughby, Ohio. Jerry came to this country from Scotland in the 70's as a manufacturing engineer. In the early 80's he decided to make his favorite instrument "The Great Highland Bagpipe of Scotland". Taking an old set of McDougals, he used the best of that set of pipes and with his own inginutiy, created his own line of products. Below they are in order from the most expensive to the least expensive.
The 110 Models
The R110's are the top of the Gibson Bagpipe line. This is an incredible solo and band bagpipe. It is available in 4 styles though the "D" model outsells all of the others. It is a combination of Imitation Ivory and Stainless Steel. All of the 110's are made of African Blackwood. Again this is the best wood for making bagpipes.
The prices quoted here are the stick prices.  Again the best way to buy pipes is through your teacher's recommendation.  As there are a lot of pipe bags, reeds etc, the question is what does your teacher play?  I will be happy to work out a package price based on those recommendations.  Just email me with the specifications and I'll get back to you with a package price.
The R111 Bagpipes
The R111's are the same musical instrument as the 110's. This is for the person looking for a more simple design. This instrument is adorned with"Chalice drone tops" , plain turned and no projecting mounts. Like the 110 it is an instrument that you could play for the rest of your life.
The Gibson Small Pipes
The Fireside Pipes
The Fireside Pipes are one of 2 models of small pipes that Gibson has to offer. These are configured like the Highland Pipes and are played over the shoulder. These are the small pipes that you can march with should your performance require that. This is a great set of pipes when you're playing for someone in a small space. They have a smooth and mellow sound. Because they are easy to blow, they are a great instrument for a new student transitioning from the practice chanter to the pipes. These pipes are reasonably priced at $650.00. The come set up and ready to play with cords, cover, and reeds. These are made of Cocabola Wood (another great hardwood), however you can upgrade them to African Blackwood for an extra $100.00.
The Celeidh Pipes
The Celeidh Pipes are a relatively new design in small pipes. This instrument is great for playing solo or playing with a group of instrumentalists. The Drones hang off to the side siimilar to the Irsh bagpipe. These pipes can be mouth blown or bellows blown. The bellows makes it easier to sing a long with if you're using it as an accompaniment instrument. This instrument is also made in Cocabola though it can be upgraded to African Blackwood for an extra $100.00. You can choose your chanter in A or Bb and a D chanter is also available for an extra .   This instrument is also reasonably priced at 699.00 in Cocabola. Bellows can be added for an additional $350.00.
