Welcome to a new paradigm in bagpipe and drum competitions:  over the internet!  Now that you've been playing for while, you're probably doing what most of us do and that is hanging around the bagpipe chat rooms.  You're probably hearing a lot about bagpipe and drum competitions.  Bagpipers and Drummers have been competing against each other for centuries.

A solo bagpipe or drum competition consists of a piper or drummer  playing before a judge.  The judge evaluates the performance.  The question is:  why would someone want to do this?  I started competing in solo competitions in the first year that I started playing this instrument 36 years ago.  It gave me a reason to practice and perfect my skills as a bagpiper.    You might find this to be a good reason for you to compete. Competitions are also reasons for us to learn new music.  It's too easy to learn the parade tunes and play nothing but those those for years and years.  Competition give you a reason to learn the other types of bagpipe music: being The Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs, Hornpipes and even the "old music" the Piobaireachd.

Most of these competitions happen between April and October at Highland Games that are held all over the world.  The purpose of this website is to give you the player a new venue to compete in all year long.

We're offering an online evaluation by Certified Bagpipe and Drumming Judges.  If you'd like to compete in our online competition, you need to make a video of yourself playing either a 6/8 March, a 2/4 March, a Strathspey and Reel, a Jig, a Hornpipe or a Piobaireachd.  The cost to compete is $10.00 for the first tune, $5.00 for each additional tune, and $20.00 for the Piobaireachd.  Upon us receiving your registration, we will provide you with an online location to submit your video.  When we receive it, it will be evaluated by our Judges who will then provide you with a score sheet and an evaluation of your performance.  It's been my experience that most judges give good constructive comments to help you learn and grow in this process.  If you'd like to register send us an email with your contact and payment information.  We will then email you a certified invoice and receipt for your payment along with the location to send your video.  If you have any questions, email or call me at 215-968-9542.
