BagpipeBand.Com is a subsiderary of Symphony Studios, Inc which is owned by my wife Pat and I. We are both musicians and started this business 13 years ago as a piano, voice and bagpipe studio. My wife is a church musician (organist and choir director) and I am a full time bagpiper. We both started our music careers as kids and have grown up being full time musicians. We both have degrees in music and in the last 13 years we have changed our roles in the business.
My first students were piano and voice students with a couple of bagpipers on the side and a night school program called "Bagpipes For Beginners". The program created 2 pipe bands and a following of private students. Today I have 1 piano student left, my wife is writing as she didn't like teaching privately and the studio has almost 30 bagpipe students.
Today I am a full time bagpiper. I play weddings, funerals and parties, I teach privately and am starting a new pipe band tonight (9/20/10) and sell instruments and supplies. I love this business and even more love the students of this business. My average student is a man over 40. Men over 40 are great students.
