For all of you who are new to this site, a bagpipe band is a group of people who play the Scottish Highland Bagpipe together, along with a group of snare drums, a few tenor drums, and a bass drum.  This site features everything you need to get started as a participant in a bagpipe band.

The first step in playing the Scottish Highland Bagpipe is buying a Practice Chanter.  Next, it's important to find a competent instructor who can teach you to play this great instrument.  If you live in the Greater Philadelphia area, call me.   If you live in a remote area and are far from a teacher you can use Skype, which is a free picture phone service over the internet.  As you develop your skills, you can buy CDs  to give you someone to practice with like "Big, Slow and Open" where you can play at a slow pace and other CD's to motivate you between lessons and practice sessions along with books of music written for the instrument.

When you have reached a point where you can play a list of tunes on the Practice Chanter, you’ll be ready for a set of pipes.  We are distributors for all of the great bagpipe makers from the US and Scotland, including:  Dunfion, Gibson, McCallum, Shepherd, Dunbar, Wallace and many others.

We also carry all of the products necessary to maintain your instrument.  As this is a once in a lifetime purchase, we only carry products made of African Blackwood as it is the best wood for musical instruments  We also carry "Small Pipes" as well, including the Gibson Fireside and Celeidh Pipes, and the Walsh Shuttle Pipes.  These are great instruments for playing indoors as they have a pleasant, soothing sound.
If you are getting married and would like to rent a kilt outfit, we can accommodate you from head to toe.

If you’d like to hire a bagpiper to play at your next event, give us a call.  We specialize in "Bagpipergrams".  This is a 30 minute performance in the style of a Singing Telegram.  A lot of music and some of your unusual questions answered.  If you’d like to hire a band, we are the home of the Loch Tay Pipe Band.  The Band performs all over the Greater Philadelphia area.
If you have any questions, please call at 215-968-9542 us or email us .
